Hungary took it's first step toward power in B.C. 14 by joining the Roman Empire of whom accepted them with open arms. Yet much later, in A.D. 896, a Magyar army, led by Arpad, invaded resident Slavs, thus beginning their settlement. Arpad's grandson, Geza, later brought Christianity to Hungary during the late tenth century, but his son, Istavan, was the first Christian ruler. In being such, he converted all in his kingdom to Christian. This lasted until the fourteenth century. In the fifteenth century, however, Hungary peaked at a high level of cultural influence, which lasted for a short period of time, for soon, most of the country was captured by Otterman Turks. Throughout the sixteenth to the eigteenth centuries, Hungary was ruled by the Austrian Apsanburghs, during of which, they rose to world prominence and managed the kingdom in peace of both mind and heart. The years pass, and with the coming and going of each year, the clutch of the peace begins to slip with each tug of the Earth. Untill, in 1848, its fingers slipped off of the handle that it had on Hungary, and sent it spiralling into war. This was when the people of Hungary rebelled and fought mercilessly for two years until their loss in 1850. Peace later occoured after the establishment of the Duel Monarchy. This Duel Monarchy gave equal power to both Austria and Hungary, but was destroyed due to the want of self rule by Slavs. After WWI, Hungary became an independent country, but lost three-fifths of its territory and two-thirds of its people to other newly independent states forming around it. During WWII, Hungary was Germany's ally through much of the battles and hardships, yet when they began to pull apart from it, Gemany invaded. After the invasion, the Communist Party gained power and declared Hungary a socialist state called Peoples' Republic of Hungary. In 1956, however, Nagy made the system neutral by withdrawing them from the Warsaw Pact. The Soviet Union did not agree with this and attacked Hungary, forcing them back into the pact and executing Nagy. Years later in 1989, Hungary's name was changed to Republic of Hungary they and abolished communist power. Their first free elections were held in 1990.
As spoken in many of the countries across Europe, English and German are spoken throughout Hungary, yet Magyar, or Hungarian, is the main language. Nintey-eight percent of the people speak Hungarian. This can lead to problems, for many of the words can become hard to speak and result in misconceptions between the people.
2. Year of Admission to E.U. History and General Information about the E.U.
This is the flag of the EU.
Hungary joined the E.U. in the year 2004 along with be one to stand and raise its head high above the others. Since its beggining in 1952, the European Union, or E.U. has been a supernational organization. In a supernational organization, there is usually one currency as there is here in the E.U.; it is called the Euro. The Euro allows people that work an live in seperate countries to halt the need to have to trade their currency for their home country's currency each time they were paid. Yet, not all countries have adopted this, for they feel that it may derail the economy and/or cause complaints, which will lead to riots. Moreover, this cooperation has spread through twenty-seven countries and produced its own flag. Flags are symbols of a united nation and this is exactly what the European Union is attemting to do to, bring itself together. To do such, the governments have eliminated terrifs ( taxes on goods passing through borders from one country to another ) and are promoting the thoughts of their citizens to think of themselves as citizens of Europe. This, in itself, enduces cooperation and pride in the people.
3. How does the E.U. and your country feel about global temperatures/climate change? (environmental issue)
The E.U. takes climate change very seriously and views it as one of the major current problems in our world today. Europe has been striving to become more energy efficent with the use of clean, renewable resources such as wind, biomass, and solar energy to give our planet a bright, green future. This shows in Europe's commitment to cut their emmisions 20% by 2020 or 30% if other countries agree to help stop global warming. The European Union has been working hard to arrange a global agreement and has held several conferences for this specific purpose. When they, hopefully, get an agreement done soon, it would likely start taking effect in 2013.

5. What is the economic background of your country and how does your country feel about supporting the economies of weaker countries in the E.U? (economic issue)
Overall, Hungary is performing better than many former communist countries. It has been a difficult transition to a free-market economy, because many Hungarians have had to cope with higher taxes, higher prices on goods and services, and a lower standard of living. The high taxes will likely become higher soon with the future adoption of the Euro. Because of their large debts, Hungary's economy nearly collapsed but was saved with a twenty-five billion Euro loan from the World Bank.
